    Our Board comprises the following:

    Aaron McDonald


    Aaron is the Director of Pragma Legal. He sits on the Courts Committes of the Law Society of Western Australia. Aaron also is a member of The Piddington Society - an organisation which promotes access to justice in the community and collegiality within the legal profession.

    Catriona Macleod

    Catriona is the Director of Cullen Macleod Lawyers. Her practice centres on commercial litigation and dispute resolution, with emphasis on the areas of construction, property, consumer law and franchising disputes. She sits on several boards and committees including the Asia-Pacific Advisory Board for the Centre for Legal Innovation and the Western Suburbs Business Association. Catriona has a particular interest in the intersection between technology and legal services and the opportunities that offers for access to justice.

    Tom French

    Tom specialises in dispute resolution (including litigation, arbitration, and adjudication) in projects & construction, resources, and professional practices. at Minter Ellison. He regularly advises contractors, principals, and engineers on major infrastructure disputes in respect to the construction of infrastructure on significant mining and resources projects in the Asia Pacific region and Africa, and in respect to the construction of significant commercial projects in the Perth metropolitan area.

    Nicholas van Hattem

    Nicholas is a barrister at Francis Burt Chambers and launched the Piddington Justice Project, an initiative to connect law graduates with community legal centres. He is the co-founder of Piddington Society. He was a recipient of the 2017 Lawyer of the Year Award.

    William Robinson

    William is a Partner at Wotton + Kearney. He has specialised in insurance law and personal injury, building and occupational health and safety disputes, public and occupiers’ liability, as well as property damage claims. He also acts for a range of construction companies in professional negligence disputes.

    Tom Hennessy

    Tom is the Strategic Planning Manager of Newcrest Mining. He has extensive business knowledge and experience. Tom is also an active community member and Director of The Mercy Health Foundation.

    Erica Thuijs

    Erica is a solicitor at Jackson McDonald. She has experience in conducting a range of personal injury matters including motor vehicle, workers' compensation, industrial accident and criminal injury compensation claims and has extensive knowledge of workers' compensation legislation, WorkCover processes and claims management.

    Sarah O'Brien-Smith

    Sarah is an Associate at HopgoodGanim Lawyers. Sarah’s experience includes assisting in the acquisition and sale of mining tenements and projects, due diligence, royalty agreements, farm-in agreements and access agreements and advising in relation to commercial aspects of mining and infrastructure tenure in Western Australia. She is a member of the Council of the Law Society of Western Australia.

    Ben Macpherson

    Ben is the Manager of Taxation Services at Pitcher Partners. He brings a wealth of taxation knowledge and has experience in structuring investments and business operations. Ben regularly assists local start-up companies with structuring and ongoing tax issues.

    Michael Lewis

    Michael is an experienced lawyer in Wills and Estate matters. He joined Pragma Legal as a Consultant in 2018 after, amongst other things, being a Partner with Clayton Utz and its predecessors for 30 years. Michael has a strong history of community engagement and social awareness and was formerly a deputy chairman and director of the Telethon Kids Institute; a former director of the Lions Eye Institute and Perth Eye Hospital.

    Demi Swain

    Demi is a lawyer at Pragma Legal and a Piddington Justice Project fellow. She has had previous volunteer experience with CLCs and has a strong passion for social justice. Demi assists with the secretarial and administrative tasks of the Subiaco Justice Centre Inc.

    Yannis Vrodos

    Yannis is a Solicitor at Herbert Smith Freehills, where he advises on major infrastructure, mining and energy projects. He is an active contributor to WA’s community sector, with a particular focus on childrens' charities and the arts sector. Yannis is also a sessional tutor at the UWA Law School.
